Full Mouth Reconstruction
Full-mouth reconstruction is similar to a smile makeover in that it combines two or more procedures to create a comprehensive treatment plan. The main difference is that full-mouth reconstruction focuses on rebuilding the health, strength, and integrity of your smile, not just its appearance. Reconstruction allows us to effectively rebuild the foundations of your smile, and can help correct issues such as:
- Significant tooth fractures
- Broken teeth
- Periodontal disease
- Tooth loss
- Mild to severe tooth infection
- Or any combination of these and other dental issues
WHAT TYPES OF TREATMENTS ARE USUALLY INVOLVED?
Full-mouth reconstruction is a personalized treatment plan made up of a combination of restorative dental procedures. The goal is to rebuild your smile in a conservative manner by fortifying and/or replacing damaged or infected teeth. Your plan will be tailored to your specific needs, and may include:
- Tooth-colored composite or ceramic fillings
- Realistic porcelain dental crowns
- Root canal therapy
- Periodontal treatment
- A dental bridge or denture(s)
- Cosmetic orthodontics, such as Invisalign®, ClearCorrect®, or MTM® aligners
- Dental implants
WILL FULL-MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION TAKE MORE THAN ONE VISIT TO COMPLETE?
Given the extent of many reconstruction procedures, yours may take more than one visit to complete. During your consultation, we will thoroughly discuss your treatment plan, including how many visits you will likely need before we begin the first phase of treatment.
WHAT IF MY TEETH ARE CROOKED?
The alignment of your teeth and bite plays a significant role in your dental health. Occlusal issues (or bite imbalances) can expose teeth to undue pressure, causing them to wear down, chip, crack, or break. If your teeth are misaligned, then your full-mouth reconstruction may include cosmetic orthodontics, such as Invisalign®, ClearCorrect®, or MTM® aligners. Cosmetic aligners can straighten your teeth without the need for conspicuous, and often uncomfortable, metal braces.
CAN FULL-MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION PREVENT FURTHER TOOTH LOSS?
By rebuilding your teeth and gum tissues, and correcting issues such as misalignment and other dental problems, we can improve your bite function and your overall oral health. Staying up-to-date on your exams and cleanings after a full-mouth reconstruction will improve your chances of keeping your new smile strong and healthy, and avoid potential tooth loss in the future.
